We have been at KRMAS for a few months now and my child has really engaged with the lessons and training. The sensei keep the children focused and active. The variety in the training is great and working through the belts is teaching them determination and commitment. The team ensures that the students are ready for grading and are open to feedback that you give. They have been very supportive and encouraged my child to learn new skills and can confidence at the dojo Would highly recommend. It’s a great program, great facilities. Professional but also personal.

We’ve been with Kumiai Ryu for almost 1 years now, and it’s been such a great experience. My daughter has grown so much in confidence and focus since she started. The Shidoin and Sensei are honestly THE BEST,they’re patient, caring, and really know how to bring out the best in every student. The classes are fun but still teach discipline and respect. We’re so happy to be part of the Kumiai Ryu family! I even told my husband that we can totally see our daughter still training here in her 20s,mind you, she’s only 4 years old now! I can’t wait to see what the next many years will bring for her, and I’m so excited for my two younger kids to join soon too! Thank you

I commenced my KRMAS Karate journey in Jan 2022. Having had a desire to study martial arts for many years but never making the time, Covid lockdowns were the catalyst I needed to make the leap. Shidoin Alysia and her team of instructors and the members were very welcoming, and I immediately felt part of the family. Since joining, my fitness has improved greatly, and I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques. Highly recommend any class under any discipline from KRMAS Edgeworth.

Always a good experience at the KRMAS Edgeworth centre, with professional instructors - all who are just wonderful with kids. Jacob has gained good listening skills and confidence, something he needed a little help with at the start of the program. After 1.5 years, he is comfortable interacting with the other ninjas and is motivated to attend class each week. Very impressed with the Newcastle Dojo and set up, especially having Shidoin Alysia as our guide! I highly recommend mini ninjas to anyone with young kids looking for an activity that is structured, disciplined and fun at the same time.

More Than Just Martial Arts: A 360-Degree Transformation at Kumiai Ryu Edgeworth! Our search for a martial arts school that could instill essential life skills—discipline, resilience, respect, self-control, and graciousness—was long and frustrating. My then 4-year-old daughter, Christin, trained in the trial classes of several dojos across the Hunter region, but none felt right until we visited Kumiai Ryu Edgeworth. From her very first class, Christin loved the energy, the teachers, and immediately wanted to be part of the family. Two years later, I can confidently say this dojo delivers on its promise and so much more. The transformation in Christin has been nothing short of amazing. I vividly recall the early days when she would nearly leave class over an accidental push or shove. That inability to accept a physical challenge is gone. Just the other day, after being accidentally and painfully hurt by a bigger boy during close combat, Christin quickly collected her emotions, accepted the boy's sincere apology, and offered a fist bump, saying, "It's okay." A year ago, this would have been a completely different story. This profound display of emotional self-control and perseverance is the reason for this long-overdue review—it is the living proof of all she has learned at this Dojo. The culture here, led by Shidoin Alysia and her team of fun-loving instructors, is phenomenal. They possess an incredible energy and positive power that not only incites a fierce love and passion for martial arts in Christin but also nurtures her character. Shidoin Alysia, described by other mothers as young, fun-loving, yet motherly, ensures every student feels supported. The positive environment is amplified by Christin’s seniors, Abbey and Charlet. They are her quintessential role models, mentors, and big sisters, consistently providing empathetic guidance and real-time encouragement whenever she feels low. Beyond the mats, even a simple remark overheard in class—"It's not bad, rather it's good to be good to strangers!"—became a new, important life goal for our family. For any parent seeking a school where their child will learn determination, humility, teamwork, and the vital lesson of how to be gracious after losing, look no further. The words "thank you" feel insufficient to express the gratitude I feel for what Shidoin Alysia and her wonderful team at Kumiai Ryu Karate Dojo @ Edgeworth, NSW, have done for Christin. Watching her grow with all of you has been one of the highlights of our family's year. Thank you a million times over.

I have been training for about 9 months in the Muay Thai ladies class. I started MT after I enrolled my 9yr old son and saw the joy it brought him. I started this class to meet new people and to improve my fitness and self-confidence - the ladies class ticked all of the boxes! I love coming to the Kumiai Ryu dojo because of the people. Everyone is welcoming from the get-go. It is a great place to let off steam after work and to laugh the stress of the day away.

I have been training in Muay Thai since the very first day the dojo opened 2 years ago and haven’t looked back since! It has been so rewarding to learn new skills that also keep me fit and active at the same time. It’s the first place that has made me look at fitness not as a chore, but as a crucial part of my life now. I look forward to the days I train! The instructors are so knowledgeable and are accommodating to your ability whilst still pushing you to be your best self in the dojo. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and made me feel part of the KRMAS family from day one. If you want to learn to train in a fun, welcoming environment look no further!
