Kids and Adults Martial Arts Classes in Newcastle

I’ve been training with Kumiai Ryu now for two years in Muay Thai and Karate. After training in other disciplines and at other dojos I found that my home was truly at Kumiai Ryu. Within the first week of me being there I was welcomed as family and encouraged to find my goals and to kick them out of the ring. Now two years later, and I feel like I could conquer anything. From consistency in my classes my fitness and everyday life has improved dramatically, my energy levels have risen and my joint mobility has blown me away. I think the thing that sets Kumiai Ryu aside from the rest and possibly my favourite thing about the club, no matter what the challenge is you’re not in it alone. Your “Family” is there helping you through it. Thank you Hanshi and Newcastle dojo team for helping me through my path.

My two energetic children have benefited immensely from their attendance in the Karate and Muay Thai programme at KRMAS Newcastle over the past 18 months. The classes in each discipline are always organised, structured and involve a variety of different skill focuses. The staff are amazing, supportive and professional.

I commenced my KRMAS Karate journey in Jan 2022. Having had a desire to study martial arts for many years but never making the time, Covid lockdowns were the catalyst I needed to make the leap. Shidoin Alysia and her team of instructors and the members were very welcoming, and I immediately felt part of the family. Since joining, my fitness has improved greatly, and I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques. Highly recommend any class under any discipline from KRMAS Newcastle.

Joining Kumiai Ryu Newcastle has had such a positive impact on all aspects of my life. I have always enjoyed exercise but found traditional gym-type exercise a bit monotonous. I stumbled across Ladies Muay Thai one day and decided to give it a go. Initially, I was nervous and believed you needed to be super fit. However, I was welcomed with open arms from the first day. My fears were met with reassurance from the friendly instructor team and the incredibly supportive and inclusive community of like-minded students that are now like my Dojo family. I love how everyone helps each other out, and we all push each other to reach our own individual goals both, inside and outside the Dojo. I now train every day and can’t get enough of it!

Always a good experience at the KRMAS Newcastle centre, with professional instructors - all who are just wonderful with kids. Jacob has gained good listening skills and confidence, something he needed a little help with at the start of the program. After 1.5 years, he is comfortable interacting with the other ninjas and is motivated to attend class each week. Very impressed with the Newcastle Dojo and set up, especially having Shidoin Alysia as our guide! I highly recommend mini ninjas to anyone with young kids looking for an activity that is structured, disciplined and fun at the same time.

My whole family has been involved with KRMAS since 2020 training in the Muay Thai programs (Junior, Ladies and Adults). I enjoy the challenge of learning new skills in a supportive, fun and non judgemental environment with experienced, professional and friendly instructors. Training alongside like minded people and making new friends along the way has been wonderful. It has helped me gain confidence to attempt new things which I never thought possible and getting encouraged along the way by a great community. I also have increased strength and flexibility from training regularly and pushing past what I thought was my limit. And the fact I can do all this alongside my family makes it even better!

I have been training for about 9 months in the Muay Thai ladies class. I started MT after I enrolled my 9yr old son and saw the joy it brought him. I started this class to meet new people and to improve my fitness and self-confidence - the ladies class ticked all of the boxes! I love coming to the Kumiai Ryu dojo because of the people. Everyone is welcoming from the get-go. It is a great place to let off steam after work and to laugh the stress of the day away.

I have been training in Muay Thai since the very first day the dojo opened 2 years ago and haven’t looked back since! It has been so rewarding to learn new skills that also keep me fit and active at the same time. It’s the first place that has made me look at fitness not as a chore, but as a crucial part of my life now. I look forward to the days I train! The instructors are so knowledgeable and are accommodating to your ability whilst still pushing you to be your best self in the dojo.
